K-12 Water Conservation Education Program
The Orange County Water Division provides grade-appropriate water conservation presentations and activities to students in Orange County schools.
Details
Elementary School: The Blue Thumb Junior Detective Program is customized by grade level. The curriculum includes the elements of the water cycle, how water is used, where drinking water comes from, and how to conserve. The Resource Action Programs'™ Waterwise curriculum is a water efficiency education program for 5th grade students designed to generate water savings through interactive classroom and homework activities. Students are invited to participate in the Water Conservation Calendar Contest.
Middle School: The Touring the Water Facts Program provides hands-on activities covering concepts of groundwater, water quality, distribution, water use, and conservation. Students are invited to participate in the Water Conservation Calendar Contest.
High School: The Wonder of Water Program is designed to expand students’ knowledge of the water industry through exposure to mechanical and high tech job opportunities associated with a water utility, proactively demonstrating additional career choices. Students are invited to participate in the Water Conservation Calendar Contest.
